You're amazing!
The May 1st mobilizations across Ontario were amazing. And you made it happen.
Thousands of people in more than 20 cities across Ontario took action for decent work and a workers’ first agenda. And even with the rain, nothing could dampen the determination of our movement to demand better from our elected representatives.
On May 1st – International Workers’ Day – you were among the thousands of people who helped send a strong message to all provincial election candidates that we want: a $20 minimum wage; at least 10 paid sick days; equal pay for part-time, contract and temp agency workers; an end to misclassification and real protections for gig workers; safer working conditions; better laws and better enforcement.
Our communities depend on high-quality public services: from health care and education, to child care and public transit. We need truly affordable housing and livable income support. We’ve also learned from the pandemic that nobody can survive on less than $500 per week, whether that comes from wages, pensions, social assistance, Employment Insurance, or workers’ compensation.
By coming together on May 1st across the province, we’ve shown the depth of support for a workers’ first agenda. But that doesn’t mean all provincial candidates are ready to endorse our vision. That’s why we must keep organizing throughout the election so that no matter who wins on June 2, we’ll be ready to keep fighting for justice for workers.
Decent Work Organizing Meeting

We will also launch our Decent Work Toolkit, giving you everything you’ll need to spread the word and elect decent work champions.

A new report From the frontlines: An urgent agenda for decent work is out now. Please take a moment to share it and amplify the recommendations brought forward by frontline workers who experience precarious employment every day.
From the Frontlines is based on 189 surveys and 27 in-depth interviews with workers in low-wage and precarious work. It dives into the challenges facing workers across Ontario and lays out the employment and labour law changes needed to ensure decent work for all. Since the provincial election campaign officially starts tomorrow, the timing couldn’t be better for this crucial report and call to action.
